Luxico the Melbourne

EDIT: The helpful response and good customer service bumped this up to three stars. For one person, the room isn't bad, but it's small for the price and feels like a budget take on comfort. It was tidy, though the fridge was filthy and a cup was dirty. There's no microwave, the fridge doesn't get very cold, and there was only one hot chocolate packet for two guests. There's no internet or call reception inside the hotel, and the free Wi-Fi cuts out before checkout. The walls are thin too. In the morning we could hear cleaners moving through nearby rooms, sounding like they were running into everything at full speed.

Getting in and out was quick and friendly, the lifts reached our floor fast, and the cleaning staff always said hello. We had a clean, nicely sized room, with quiet and excellent air conditioning, a well-designed shower and very good security for the rooms. There are plenty of quality bars and restaurants nearby, and the location is excellent.

Room 415, a two queen bed room, had a lovely garden view, and the hotel's ground floor dining and breakfast area was good. The CBD location was convenient and quiet, and the staff were great. Still, the hallways, facilities and products need major refurbishment. The bathroom was tiny and cramped, and my mattress felt old, too firm and uncomfortable for the price. It was an okay stay, but there are better value options in the city.

The food was excellent and the staff were very accommodating. Check-in and checkout were efficient, and they gave helpful advice about the hotel's amenities. The woman cleaning our room worked efficiently and did all she could to make it more comfortable. When the espresso machine's water reservoir leaked, they replaced it promptly. Great location, reasonably quiet, and we'd stay again.
