My room had a lovely view, and the first morning I spotted hot air balloons outside the window. The only thing I'd suggest improving is the ventilation, since I couldn't open any windows. The air conditioning worked well, though, and the ventilation seemed to be doing its job within a couple of minutes of being in the room. I stayed 5 nights at LyF and would happily return if I'm back in Melbourne. The staff were attentive and professional, and the facilities were comfortable and clean. The location is fantastic, with good public transport connections and plenty of bars, restaurants, and shops close by in the Coolingwood neighborhood and Fitzroy.

The bed was so cozy and comfortable, and the room had everything we needed. Check-in and check-out were super smooth too. There were water refill spots, kitchens for cooking in several areas, lots of games and workspaces, and free coffee. There are also sooo many cute palaces nearby for shopping and eating. Loved the area and would highly recommend!

My room was small, but it suited me well as a solo traveler. It had a queen sized bed, a little table, and plenty of hooks for my clothes. The bed was actually quite comfortable, and the staff at the counter were friendly and helpful. There's a water dispenser on the second floor, which came in handy. There are lots of restaurants around, though you'll need to take a bus or tram to get to other tourist spots in the CBD. They don't provide free disposable toothbrushes or toothpaste, so you'll need to buy them at the front desk or from a convenience store. I was very satisfied with my stay.

LYF is just around the corner from Smith St, Peel St, and all the great vibe Collingwood has to offer. I can't wait to book again. Thanks LYF!! I spent 5 nights here I January. The staff were super helpful and friendly, and the room felt perfect for me, clean, fresh, and so new. The shared kitchenettes were great because they kept food smells out of the room. I loved the tall shower too, I'm 6’4.

The room didn't feel suited to two people. Once we unpacked our luggage, we could barely move, and I've never seen a bathroom this small outside Japan, though at least hotels in Japan can have a bathtub. The hotel style felt more like a hostel to me, and the reception felt managed more for backpackers. Staff were friendly. It's 3-5 mins on foot to the tram, while the bus is much farther away. There aren't many shops nearby, and they're all at least a 5-10 mins walk. They let you know that there's no room service the next day, so you'll need to ask for towels or any used-up supplies if you need them. Personally, I wouldn't choose this for a spouse or anyone on holiday, though it might be nice for a solo traveler who doesn't mind paying hotel prices for hostel service. There are plenty of hotels in the CBD at a similar price, with a better deal.
