Mary Card's Coach House

The host couldn’t have been friendlier, and there was a good range of breakfast items to prepare in the room. The hotel’s rooms are older, but their furnishings and layout made our stay fun. It’s easy to walk into town for dinner at one of the area’s great restaurants, and several world-class botanical gardens are a straightforward drive away. If you get the chance to book this boutique hotel, do.

Paula was a pleasure to deal with and handled all our requests, including a late checkout. The location was ideal, with restaurants and cafes only a two-minute walk away, and there was plenty of parking right outside our room. Downstairs was especially peaceful, with access to the fire and courtyard. The fridge had plenty of water, fresh eggs and quality produce. We also loved the large spa bath, cosy robes and slippers, and very soft, comfortable bed. The place was easy to find. Thanks so much, we’ll definitely return and recommend it.

I stayed in a cute, comfortable solo studio cottage with a kitchenette. The fridge and pantry cart were already filled with tasty, nutritious breakfast items when I arrived, and I had fun making meals. It was clean and warm without feeling stuffy, and the area was quiet, with everything I needed just a short walk away. Adding this place to my favourites.

The Baltic Room was comfortable and not overpriced, and the breakfast supplied was great. But the bathroom fittings were a real letdown. The spa jets didn’t work, the shower head sprayed everywhere and soaked the floor, and the old tap handles kept falling off and were hard to turn. There were broken tiles too. Guests deserve better. I’m tired of booking cottages in the Dandenongs where basic quality just isn’t there, though some places are outstanding. Mary Coach House needs an update.
