We paid quite a fair charge, but the room was dirty and hadn't been cleaned at all. There was dirt and hair everywhere, along with spiders and cobwebs. The cutlery and utensils had been used and left soiled. We were very unhappy and had to clean everything ourselves before we could use it. We even left the place in better condition than we found it. Their policy says there's a penalty for leaving the room untidy at checkout, but it should work both ways. If the room isn't clean at check-in, guests should get their money back. We've stayed in hotel apartments and motels that cost less but were still much cleaner and better. This felt like a waste of money.

The bed was clean, comfortable, and smelled nice, which was a surprise. The pillows were very old, though, and there was only scented tea. The kettle was filthy, the carpet needed vacuuming, and there was grime around the taps, black mould near the plughole and on the shower wall, plus damage to the bench and walls. We had to call four times to get the after-hours key box code, which was really stressful. The low price didn't make up for how dirty and unhealthy the room felt. A proper scrub and vacuum would have made a big difference.

The place needs to be gutted or knocked down. Housekeeping seems understaffed and short on supplies. I arrived, then walked straight back out because the desk manager, nick, was rude and obstructive. He kept going in circles and, in my view, flat-out lied. I had to look up the head office number and put them on speaker to deal with him. I only stayed one night. Check-in was fine and the price was affordable, but the room was not clean at all. There was dust on top of the bedhead and TV, and the sheets and pillows smelled so bad I couldn't tell when they were last changed.
