Melbourne Marriott Hotel Docklands

We ended up needing a hotel during the busy Australian Open period after a poor Airbnb experience, and were lucky that The Marriott Docklands had a room for us and our two young children. From the moment we arrived, a staff member had our bags ready to go up, and everything felt seamless. The hotel was clean and neat, and the team were attentive. We all slept well in the comfortable beds. Being near the tram line made exploring Melbourne easy. We enjoyed the pool and jacuzzi, and Sunset House restaurant/bar was lovely, with great views. We also had buffet breakfast downstairs one morning, with a decent range of food. We'll definitely look to book again when we're back in Melbourne.

I want to thank the team for their care during my stay in Room 716, starting on 8 February. I was extremely unwell, and when I called the manager on Sunday morning to check my checkout time, he could hear how sick I was. He immediately arranged for paramedics to come assess me and make sure I was safe. That initiative and concern went far beyond what I expected, and I won't forget it. I needed to add an additional night because of my condition. Everyone I met treated me with kindness and compassion. A housekeeper who said she'd previously been a nurse checked on me, brought me water, and made sure I was comfortable. I was too unwell to properly catch her name, but her care made a real difference. David gave me the manager's direct mobile number so I could call or text if I needed help, which was enormously reassuring. When I was alone and at my worst, the team made me feel safe and cared for. Doors slam loudly, so if you're a light sleeper, neighbours may wake you at any hour, day or night. I've never had that happen before, even in much cheaper places. The beds and pillows were uncomfortable, and grime was visible on the bathroom sinks and walls in the pictures I attached. The TV only has free-to-air channels, with no screen-cast option. Food was average, so set your expectations accordingly. Room service wouldn't bring up my Uber Eats order. Five stars... It offers below-average shelter at a premium price. Go to the Quest hotel up the road instead, it's much nicer.

The pool area is amazing, and the rooms are large and fantastic. It's a clean, modern hotel, and every staff member I met was friendly and helpful. For the money, it's great value compared with similar hotels in the CBD. Docklands is a little farther out depending on your plans, but a short tram ride gets you into the CBD, and Docklands has fun attractions of its own.
