The house and property were beautiful, and clean and ready before check-in. The 4pm check-in felt late for the price of two nights, Friday and Saturday. I didn't notice the time until after booking, and if I'd seen it beforehand, I wouldn't have booked. We asked to check in earlier, and they eventually agreed to 2.30pm. We arrived just after 2pm and entered the property, though not the house. Host Harry said the key was ready in the lockbox, but later left us a bad review, calling us pushy about arriving early. That was never said to us directly. We had a clean, ready house before check-in time, yet the host left us a poor review. We've gone away as a group for 10 years and never had a bad review or a 4pm check-in before. The short stay window, from 4pm Friday to checkout before 10am Sunday, doesn't give much time at the house. I've included photos of comments from the other guests who were with us.

The room arrangement was brilliant, with a separate wing of bedrooms away from the kitchen, lounge, and dining area. Merricks North Retreat was a wonderful property, but three nights still didn't feel like enough for our group of eight adults and seven kids. Everyone had plenty of space. The kids were thrilled to see the horses in the nearby paddock, and had lots of room to run around and ride their bikes and scooters. We all made good use of the outdoor area, pool, hot tub, BBQ, and tennis court. Looking forward to coming back.

There were plenty of puzzles and board games for a rainy winter's day, and the retreat was very central for visiting a winery. It was perfect for our big family, including young grandchildren. We loved the spacious living areas and views across the horse paddocks and farmland. After a dip in the chilly pool, the hot tub was lovely, followed by family games on the well equipped tennis court.

We had three families, six adults and five kids, staying two nights to celebrate my husband's 60th birthday. It was an amazing house for entertaining, with lots of separate spots to relax and enjoy the outdoors. Even in May we managed a very quick swim in the pool before warming up in the hot tub. I’d totally recommend it for a fairly large group.

The house gave all 16 of us plenty of room, with quiet corners as well as spaces where we could gather. The kids loved switching between the pool, hot tub and tennis court, which kept the adults happy too. Our zero birthday weekend had been postponed almost a year because of COVID 19, so after a year of restrictions it meant a lot to finally celebrate together. The manager and hosts did everything they could to make it a brilliant stay. We’ll always treasure it, and I’d highly recommend this special retreat.
