Metro Apartments on Bank Place

The street gets noisy late on Saturday, with a few bars below playing loud music. The bathroom also wasn’t very clean, and the toilet paper was one-ply. The room needs maintenance: the kitchen tap wobbled and was awkward to use, and the cheap pillows offered no support. The location is excellent, but I’d stay somewhere else next time.

The reception lady was welcoming and great to talk to, and the stay was enjoyable for a good price in a fantastic location. Our room was right by the lift, though, and the noise is why I’d give it three stars instead of four. The building is very old, but our room looked modern enough, with nice decorations, a huge bed, and everything immaculate.

The bed was enormous and very comfortable, with clean cotton sheets, and the room was clean and reasonably quiet. We stayed one night in the two-room queen, which had a kitchenette and a good-sized bathroom. It’s basic and could use an update, but you can open the windows for fresh air. The receptionist was helpful and lovely. Basic, but comfortable, and I’d recommend it.

The main problem was the garbage truck collecting bins in the alleys in the early hours. Earplugs would help if you want a good night’s sleep. The rooms are comfortable and well equipped, and the location is excellent. A few little things bring it down, including the noisy bathroom extractor and cheap finishes.
