Moody's Beach Apartment

The staff were friendly and helpful, and the motel is just a short walk from the beach and shops. It was also easy to get to, with a parking spot right in front of each room. We stayed in two rooms, a bright, spacious family room and a dog-friendly room with a lovely private outdoor area for sunny days. Both had all the things we needed, including a hair dryer, earplugs, and a coffee maker. We had a wonderful stay and would definitely recommend it.

There are lots of shady spots around the motel where you can sit and read, and the staff are welcoming and ready to help. Panda Restaurant is just over the side street, while the shops and cafés are about a three minute walk away. During our four days there, we ate breakfast and dinner somewhere different each time, with plenty of places still left to try. The rooms are a little dated, but comfortable and clean. Ours had the usual essentials, including a fridge, toaster, kettle and air con, as well as a great shower and bathroom. The bed, couch and lounge chair were comfortable too. A nice pet-friendly place for a few days away.

I booked through airbnb, then noticed within 10 minutes that I had selected the wrong date. I tried to sort it out with the host, but the alternative rooms they offered didn’t work because the room I’d booked wasn’t available for the extra night I needed. I asked to cancel and get a refund. They refused to return my $287. I know the booking mistake was mine, but I caught it so quickly that I don’t think it would have stopped them renting the room to someone else. That’s why I’m giving one star. $287 wasted, and I wouldn’t recommend this place.

We were glad to find Moodys when we needed somewhere to sleep, and the staff were extremely helpful and accommodating. The place was clean and comfortable, though overpriced. The peninsula was very busy that weekend and there was almost no accommodation available when we searched, apart from places costing upwards of $700 a night, so that may have pushed the price up.
