Quest Ivanhoe

We stayed at Quest Ivanhoe over the holidays and would recommend it to friends. It was handy having places to eat and supermarkets nearby, with Woolworth’s in the same building. We had utensils and laundry in the room, and since we’d rented a car, the basement parking was reassuring. As visitors from overseas, we also appreciated being able to charge devices through USB ports in the wall sockets and lamps.

The location was excellent, but I’ve had better for less. For $300 a night, the room felt tiny, the air-conditioner barely worked, and the towels were cheap and unpleasant. The pillows were really uncomfortable too.

The staff made Quest Ivanhoe feel like home from the start. Everyone was lovely, went out of their way with requests, and made sure I was comfortable. I stayed for eight months in a spacious superior apartment with a great view. It had a fully equipped kitchen and laundry in the unit, and the meticulous cleaning and recent renovation meant everything felt clean, new, and nice. The location was excellent for a long stay: about five minutes on foot to Ivanhoe station and several bus stops, with lots of cafes, restaurants, and shops nearby. Having Woolworths right next door was one of my favorite perks. I’d highly recommend it for short or long visits.

For three adults, the price difference led us to choose Quest Ivanhoe over our preferred Quest Preston, but the experience was disappointing. The strong fresh-paint smell, especially oil-based paint, was everywhere, including in our room. Management could have offered customers a general discount during that period. The apartment also seemed stingy on basic supplies. For three nights we got one garbage bag and one dishwasher tablet. The kitchen had no coffee plunger or coffee bags, just instant coffee, and no biscuits to have with tea. The oven was dirty from the previous guest and had to be cleaned after we asked before using it. There were no spare blankets, so our last night was cold. Compared with Quest Preston, the Ivanhoe apartments fall short.
