Rendezvous Hotel Melbourne

I stayed for about a month and left very disappointed. The most upsetting part was how the payment dispute was handled. Even though I had paid for my accommodation, staff said I couldn't access my room unless I paid the amount I was disputing. They also came to my room about the payment, which left me feeling pressured and uncomfortable. Several staff members were rude, dismissive and unprofessional throughout. At check-in, I specifically asked about parking. I was only told to bring the parking ticket to reception, with no mention of a daily charge. Nobody told me about Pay TV fees either. At the end, I was presented with hundreds of dollars in extra charges that hadn't been clearly explained. Once I disputed them, staff immediately offered to remove the TV charges and asked me to pay only for parking, which made the process seem inconsistent and unclear. As a long-term guest, I expected clear communication, transparency and respect. Instead, I experienced confusing charges and behaviour I found intimidating. I've formally complained and wouldn't stay here again or recommend the hotel.

The location is excellent, right near Flinders St station, and the hotel is beautiful, with gorgeous architecture. The rooms are lovely, though the bed was a little hard. The bar area has beautiful decor and seating, and the cocktails were amazing.

We had a comfortable bed, good wifi and great facilities, and the staff were friendly from the easy, efficient check-in onwards. We booked two nights for my birthday. The hotel has historical significance, so it feels grand, and it was clean and well maintained. The man in the bar was lovely, helpful without hovering, and there was a great range of generously poured drinks. Our room was nice, but the only view was a wall. The air conditioner was noisy enough that I had to wear earplugs. The location is awesome, directly across from the station with plenty of trams nearby. We'd happily stay again, perhaps asking for a quieter room if possible.

Getting around was easy, with two free city trams within 300m and Queen vic, emporium, Southern Cross for V/Line, target, meyer, st pauls, young& jackson, national gallery and the chadstone free shuttle all accessible. Coles, mcd and hungry jacks are within 500m, so there's no need to get breakfast. There are also two Chemist warehouse nearby, where I got a luggage tag for aud8. Fantastic location, 7stars. Room service was average. The decor and lift aren't modern, but that was fine. I was out travelling most days, so having no view from the window didn't bother me.
