St Joseph’s By The Sea has a peaceful garden where you can pause and reflect, and ecology initiatives run on site. Across from the water in Williamstown, it has a seaside feel while still being accessible to the city. It works well as a gathering and accommodation centre for retreats, conferences and spiritual direction, with six hotel-style rooms with ensuites, spacious meeting rooms, and a chapel with beautiful glass doors and room to pray. The centre is homely and warm, with a kitchen and dining space. It’s run by the Josephite sisters, a Catholic religious order founded by St Mary MacKillop, and hospitality is central.
