The Burrow At Wombat Bend

We spent a magical weekend at the Burrow in 2025 for a special anniversary. Mornings by the water were so peaceful, especially watching the birds land. We borrowed the binoculars to get a closer look, too. The house is cosy and has everything you need, and Sue and Bill made us feel very welcome. Such a special place.

The billabong is incredibly peaceful and full of wildlife, and the house has everything we needed and more. We spent two nights with Sue and Bill at the Burrow and had a fantastic time. They’re among the kindest, most genuine people we’ve met on our trip, and made us feel at home from the moment we arrived. Thanks for having us, Sue and Bill. Julie & Alex

We fell asleep to frogs and insects and woke to birds calling. Sitting on the deck with the binoculars provided, we spotted all sorts of bird species. Sue and Bill have done inspiring work for nature on their property, and they know a lot about it. We won our recent one-night stay at a writer's festival, and were so glad we got to experience Wombat Bend. If you care about the environment, this is the place. It’s close to the city, yet feels a million miles away. Why stay in a hotel when you can support people who support nature? What a gem.

The landscape is beautiful, carefully planned as a sanctuary for wildlife, and watching the birds around the billabong through the binoculars was a highlight. Breakfast was incredible, with so much provided, and the place has all the little touches you could need. It felt like home as soon as we walked in, cosy and full of care. Sue and Bill were kind, thoughtful hosts. We had the best long weekend at The Burrow at Wombat Bend, and honestly didn’t want to leave. Perfect for relaxing and recharging.
