Travelodge Hotel Melbourne Docklands

The location is excellent. We walked to West Melbourne and back without any trouble, and the hotel is close to public transport and the city. Parking was easy to navigate and close by, though it wasn’t on site. I’d stayed at Travelodge in Southbank before and had high hopes, but they faded soon after we arrived. The staff were friendly and the lobby looked fancy, though that was where the good points stopped. The elevators were slow, and the room was incredibly small, even though it was clean. The carpet was worn and missing pieces by the front of the fridge. The bathroom felt like one on a cruise ship, and the shower mould looked like it hadn’t been scrubbed in a while and needs serious attention. I wouldn’t stay again, especially for the price I paid. Compared with other places I’ve stayed, the room size just wasn’t good value.

We had everything we needed in clean, spacious rooms, and the beds were really comfortable. It was a quiet spot, with trams and Southern Cross station easily accessible. Perfect for our F1 visit.

The location was really convenient, and check-in and checkout were easy. They cleaned the room daily. We stayed five nights during the Australian Open; the hotel isn’t the newest, but our room was spacious and clean, with all the necessities. Service was very accommodating. We asked for an extra pillow, fresh batteries for the TV remote, and a better iron, and staff provided everything without fuss.

Breakfast was really well done, and it’s a safe area. It’s about 10 minutes further by tram, which helped us avoid the higher-priced hotels. I’ve stayed here several times for the Aus Open because it’s so handy to walk back after taking the tram or train. The showers need a bit more attention, though, as mould builds up easily. I’d stay again since I’m out and about most of the time.
