Zara Apartments

The kitchen was fairly well equipped, with a gas cooktop, separate fridge and freezer, toaster, microwave, and kettle, though there was no oven. There was also a washer-dryer and lift access. The room itself was small and an awkward shape, but not too uncomfortable. Kings Way brought plenty of traffic noise, though it also put the South Melbourne Cafés a short walk away and left several bus and tram connections nearby. I spent four months in apartment 1 in 2016, and the stay was fairly pleasant overall. Noise from other guests was the biggest problem for me, and visitors I had over struggled with it too. The communal balcony flooring bangs very loudly when people walk on it, and since access isn't restricted, guests taking smoking breaks could wake you at 3am. The unit's front door also lets noise in from the shared stairwell. I ended up buying ear plugs to sleep. Ventilation was another issue. There was just one small window that opened. The air conditioner wasn't working during winter when I stayed, although an oil heater was provided. The room felt very warm in spring, so I hope the air con is working again for summer. The place was equipped well and conveniently located, and reasonably comfortable, but be prepared for noise and poor ventilation.
