The Moorings at Metung

A lovely place to relax or head out for some fun on the lakes. The apartments are clean and a good size, with water views, and shops, the jetty, and pub are close by in this peaceful seaside village. The pools and hot tub are very clean and pleasant.

A quiet, picturesque place, just a short walk from local shops. The room was spacious and clean, and the service was friendly. Having both an indoor and outdoor pool was a nice bonus. Highly recommend.

The room was lovely, and the location was great, just minutes from the few shops around. Check their hours, though, as some close quite early. The pub is pretty great and serves great meals. The receptionist wasn’t very welcoming, with no greetings or anything. The robe drawers only opened about 100mm before hitting the robe door, so they were very hard to use and I didn’t use them. Open shelves would work better. The outside light also shone very brightly through the door into the room, so maybe a blind would help. There were standard tea and coffee sachets, but sadly no sweet biscuits.

The location made it easy to get to the Metung Hotel and nearby shops, just a five-minute walk away. I came back to Metung for family reasons after spending many childhood holidays there, and I still love the place. The Moorings, though, felt old. At over $400 a night for two bedrooms, I don't think an espresso machine is too much to ask. Instant coffee and awful tea were the only complimentary options in the apartment. Reception didn't feel welcoming. There was no greeting or question about where we'd come from or how the drive had been. She seemed focused on making sure the rest of my group arrived before reception closed so she could leave. I even got a call asking me to pick up her key, though she had all my details and could have left it with me. That officious reception didn't ruin my stay, but I'm not in love with The Moorings, and the front-of-office needs to go.
