Sandcastles On The Beach

I’ve stayed at sandcastles a few times before and always had good service. After my sister passed away, I had to cancel a booking, and when I later called to rebook, I spoke with Cath at reception. She assured me we’d get a nice ocean-view room and even gave me a room number. Arriving to find we’d been put around the back was upsetting. They made me feel like an idiot and said they hadn’t promised that. I wrote everything down, but it meant nothing to them. Please get every booking detail in writing.

Had an awesome time here with my mates! There are a few shops and cafes nearby, and the beach is only a short walk away. We also loved the little pool and spa, just right for chilling after a day out. One of the best stays on the Sunshine Coast!

We were in 401 for a wedding weekend. Management were lovely about the problem, but we weren’t offered a discount or anything else for the first day, when we couldn’t use the shower or hot water at all. There was no hot water on day one and it was freezing. It wasn’t sorted until the next day, when we were moved to another room. They came by at night, and I politely said we were fine not showering that first night, after they’d already told us they couldn’t move us or fix it that night because they were full.

My review is about the communal areas and management at Sandcastles Mooloolaba, where I stayed in a unit. The building allows third-party accommodation services, which management say aren’t their responsibility, but the shared facilities weren’t well maintained and took away from the stay. When I raised this, management responded with hostility and unprofessional communication. I asked them to stop contacting me, but more emails came through that felt intimidating and intended to discourage me from sharing my experience. After reading other reviews, I get the impression others have also found the manager unwelcoming. It almost seems part of the “charm.” I understand Sandcastles Mooloolaba doesn’t directly manage every unit. I hope this helps future guests make an informed choice and encourages more respectful responses to guest feedback.
