The whole place creaked and shifted, with no shims under the chassis to quiet it down. The air conditioner needed resetting and didn’t reach the bedroom. They advertised a queen bed, but it definitely wasn’t one, unless it came from Temu! Wallaroo cabins are cheaper, in much better shape and only ten minutes up the road. The amount they charge for what’s on offer is ludicrous. Andrew Costello should take a look at his own accommodation. Honestly, it was bloody awful, and I can’t express how disappointed I am. This was my first trip after cancer treatment. I wish I’d researched more and saved my money. Sleeping in my car would’ve been about as comfortable. Do not pick this place to stay.
There were ants everywhere, and the floors were filthy. I spilled some water and wiped it up, but the cloth came away black. The bathroom vent looked like it hadn’t been cleaned in over a year, and quite a few things were broken, including the shower door, which wouldn’t stay shut. The washing machine was old and cost extra, coins only. We could clearly hear the next cabin’s conversation from inside ours, and there was no fly screen on the window. The door knob felt ready to fall off, and the lock got stuck while we were inside. It took almost ten minutes to open. One BBQ didn’t work and the other barely got hot. Everything creaked and frowned. There were probably more issues I can’t remember.
The beds were good, and the shower had decent water pressure. Check-in was seamless and the location is good, plus it’s a slightly cheaper option. But the facilities weren’t up to scratch. In the deluxe cabin, the toilet cistern was so old it was literally crumbling. The coffee pod machine didn’t work, and the hot plate took 25 minutes to heat up, then another 25 minutes to barely cook three pieces of bacon. We gave up on the rest of breakfast and went out for food and coffee, which rather defeated the point of having a kitchen. The kitchen utensils were sparse and not clean. There’s no soundproofing, either, and you can hear a quiet conversation from the neighbouring cabin. Our bill was also 98 cents above the quoted fee in the booking confirmation email. Obviously not a lot, but it felt deceptive.
We booked using our Coast is Calling voucher, but I don’t see how they can charge $210 a night. Our ‘deluxe’ cabin was old and tired, on a block in the middle of nowhere. The stove didn’t work, the microwave needed a piece of paper propped under it, and the bathroom was old and smelly. The BBQ and surrounding area were dirty and looked ready to fall down.
The bed was comfortable and the shower was okay, but everything else was broken and the outside was disgusting. This place is a disaster. I can’t believe what I paid for this dump, and I’d never recommend it to anyone.
