Pick A Box Motel

Vincent at the bar went out of his way to help us, and his warm, friendly manner was much appreciated after a long day on the road. He deserves recognition for how he treated us. The place itself is stunningly clean, thoughtfully designed and functional, with cutlery and everything else we needed.

The adjoining pub is a great spot for a beer and a game of pool, and the meals are lovely too. The rooms are beautiful and clean, with easy access. Can't recommend this place enough.

The cabin style rooms feel like little houses, with kitchenettes, plenty of space and a very comfortable setup. Mine was very clean, and the free bottle of wine at check-in was a lovely surprise. It's an excellent place for a short stop, and could also work well as a base for a few days or longer if you're travelling in your own car and exploring the region. A couple of small things could be better: blackout blinds would be great, especially in summer, and the hot water runs out after about five minutes, so don't count on a long hot shower.

On our June trip from Brisbane to Longreach, we stayed at several places, and Pick a Box was easily the best. It was clean, tidy and affordable, with great communication and an easy check-in and check-out. The bed was comfortable, the water was hot, and the little setup they have is great. Sitting on the deck with a cuppa was relaxing and had a lovely country feel. I'd recommend staying here, and I'll book it again next trip. Couldn't give it enough stars.
