Always Welcome Motel

The bathroom fan didn’t work, there was no water pressure, the tissue box was empty, and the wall heater was broken. The couch was extremely dirty, there was a broken mirror that seemed like a safety risk for kids, and the carpet stains felt unhygienic. We even found a shoe on top of the cupboard and socks under the bed. The motel was very dated, smelled bad, and had no information book. They provided a replacement portable heater, but it was very loud and had no test and tag for safety compliance. Worst motel we’ve stayed in. We won’t be back.

I’d booked three nights but left after just one because I felt so unsafe. The room reeked of cigarette smoke, and its door lock was broken. When I raised it, I was offered another room that smelled just as bad, but they refused to refund me. Children in dirty clothes were sitting in the gutters, while the managers were getting drunk in reception. People shouted, argued, and drank all night. I left the next morning without speaking to anyone and never heard from them again or got my money back.

Management dealt with the noisy room next door promptly after I called. My room itself was a reasonable size, but the shower leaked all night and was very noisy. The couch was probably the dirtiest I’ve seen since my early 20s. I reckon I could’ve found a cleaner one in hard rubbish. The fridge froze all my travel food, including the baby food, which was a bit of a bummer.

We’d paid for two rooms and rushed to arrive before the stated midnight check-in cutoff. From the moment we got there, things felt off. Nobody was at reception, so we called the 24:7 number on the door twice before someone finally answered and said they’d send someone down. We waited ten minutes. There were several people sitting on car bonnets in torn clothes and no shoes, and others were rushing between rooms. After a while, a woman came over, hostile, and asked what we were looking for. I said we were waiting to check in. She mumbled something and told me there were no rooms available. We’d already paid for two, but she seemed agitated and not in a good state, and we felt super unsafe, so we left. We had no further contact from the hotel. The booking provider later told us the motel had refused our refund. That left us with nowhere to stay during an already stressful evening, while we were visiting a loved one in hospital. If you care about your welfare, time, and money, please avoid this place.
