The room was by far the smallest hotel room I've ever stayed in, despite being sold as a family room. There was nowhere for luggage, so the bags took up most of the tiny floor space. Small windows looked directly into the Signature Restaurant, leaving us with the blinds shut for privacy. The entrance felt like a service door at the back of a shopping centre, and the decor did nothing with the alpine setting. Apart from the location, the hotel is overrated and overpriced. The Signature Restaurant was poor. The food was bland, the steaks completely overcooked, and the pork belly was so tough it was like a doorstop. Drenching it in sugar caramel made no sense, and my teeth stuck together trying to eat it. Service was slow, unenthusiastic and sometimes nonexistent. At breakfast, I asked for coffee and was told to get it myself from the loft bar on level 2. I'd never been told to fetch my own coffee in a hotel before. One morning staff started eating their meals while guests were still in the dining room. At the famous loft bar, last drinks were called at 20:40, another first for a hotel bar. The kids' spa pool was tiny, about the size of a porridge bowl, and the same family occupied it for hours. My kids never got a turn during our three nights. The skiing was great, but the stay and food at the Breathtaker left us disappointed and with a sour taste. Very poor, and to be avoided.

The $85 deal after a spa session was pleasant and excellent value, and the beef and vegetables were both very good. The chicken was a letdown: poorly cooked and presented, with far too much salad, and it didn't look like what the menu advertised. Allegra, one of the waitresses, seemed not to want to work that evening, and we had to put up with her poor attitude. The other young woman serving us was much more pleasant. I still recommend the restaurant.

It was our first time in the snow, and what an experience. We had an amazing time at Breathtaker, with lovely staff and an outstanding spa. The lifts were just a three-minute walk away. See you next year! ☃️

We had a fantastic family ski holiday and couldn't have asked for a better experience at the Breathtaker Hotel and Spa. There were eight of us, including four grandchildren, staying in the Breathtaker Suite. The accommodation, cleanliness, amenities, staff, food and drinks were all excellent. Being close to the ski lifts and ski school was a major bonus. We'll definitely return to Breathtakers.

The kids had something to do in the playroom, and I loved unwinding in the spa. Getting around was easy too: the free shuttle stop is right outside, and Bourke Street is just a short walk away. We also used the Snowline transfer, which was smooth and especially handy with little ones. The drivers were patient with us. We spent two midweek nights here as a family with our 5-year-old and 1.5-year-old. Our one-bedroom apartment was clean, comfortable, and roomy for a snow resort, and the heater worked really well. Everyone on staff was friendly and helpful. Breakfast at Signature Restaurant was included and very good; we booked dinner there too, and they had a kids' menu. We'd definitely come back.
