Boroka Downs

The wildlife and those morning views of the Grampians are what I keep thinking about. We only left yesterday after a few days, and already miss the place. Baroka Downs felt special, with comfortable, clean accommodation and such thoughtful touches from the owner. If you’re after quiet, relaxation and nature, it delivers all of that and more. Thank you!

We found this an ideal base for exploring the Grampians, and the lovely views and visits from local wildlife made it hard to leave. The kitchen was one of the best equipped I’ve seen, with everything we could need. I’d recommend bringing food and cooking there, since I imagine the drive back in the dark could be unpleasant.

The no-contact check-in was smooth, and the staff were friendly and quick to respond. Thanks, Katrina. We also enjoyed the local produce supplied with the room, which gave a nice showcase of local businesses. The accommodation itself was clean and comfortable, with everything we needed, plus a lovely mountain view and plenty of wildlife. Kangaroos are everywhere, so take care while driving. We can’t wait to return.

We booked four nights at Boroka Downs, house 3, expecting to spend our time exploring Grampians lookouts. Instead, staying in was just as enjoyable. The house was exceptionally clean, thoughtfully finished, and supplied with anything we’d forgotten. We ate in throughout the stay, watching wildlife in the evenings and birds bathing in the mornings. The five houses are spaced well apart. Houses 5 to 2 face the mountains for sunset views, while house 1 faces east for sunrise. We saw emus, kangaroos, deer and many kinds of birds. The night sky is amazing too. Highly recommended!
