There was plenty for the kids to do, from the arcade and tennis to swimming and basketball. We had a great camping weekend, with our spot conveniently right beside the kitchen. The facilities were complete and the toilets stayed clean during our visit. Give their café a try!

The bridge between the two parts of the park had lovely views, especially at dusk, and Nagambie township is close enough to walk to if you’re up for under 5km each way. It’s handy for supplies, food, ice cream, or a change of scenery. We were there for four nights in our camper over Australia Day weekend. It was a decent, family-friendly stay, though not quite a standout. The park is massive and was extremely busy. Our site was a decent size, so it didn’t feel too cramped, and the ensuite site was clean, modern, and well set up. We cooked in our camper and didn’t use the shared amenities or camp kitchen, but they looked well maintained when we walked past. The site was near a pool and the bouncy pillow, which the kids absolutely loved. The pool is large, but with temperatures around 35-40°C every day it got extremely crowded. It often felt more like an adult pool party, with loud music, drinking, and even shots, which wasn’t always ideal with young children. Although the park is on the lake and near the Goulburn River, there weren’t many safe spots for little kids to wade or swim. People were mostly using those areas for paddleboarding and kayaking. Noise was a real issue. There are thousands of corellas around, and from about 6am until 9pm they’re very loud, making it hard to relax quietly. I took a video, and all the white specks in the screenshot are screaming birds. We also had nearby groups partying until about 2am. Noise enforcement could have been better, but we let it slide because it was Australia Day weekend and the park was so busy. It’s a well-equipped park in a good location, but expect it to be busy and noisy at peak times. I’d give the stay a solid 6.75/10.

We had a great two-night family stay at Nagambie Lakes. The cabins by the water were clean, well appointed, and had lovely views. The location is stunning and the staff are lovely too. We’ll be back, and would definitely recommend it.

The large sites are a plus, and the location is undeniably perfect, but that’s where the positives end for me. Some staff were rude, unhelpful, and seemed uninterested in looking after guests. At the pool, I watched a staff member notice a blaring boom box, so loud you couldn’t talk to the person next to you, with glass stubbies sitting on top. He sat in the ute and watched the safety risk unfold for another five minutes. If it was outside his role, I’d have expected him to tell management, but he didn’t. When I raised the glass at reception the next day, I was rudely told I should have reported it myself. If staff are there watching this happen, they have a duty of care to all guests. The cleanliness of the amenities has also gone downhill since we visited a year ago. Having just one boom gate code per site is a hindrance, especially if you arrive in separate cars and need to unload groceries. I think the park should review that policy and find ways to improve the guest experience.
