Surfbeach Holiday Park

We arrived at the caravan park at 1:05 pm. Another couple with a caravan was already in the parking lot. The reception door was locked despite the open sign. A sign said lunch break was from 12 pm to 1 pm, and the couple said they’d been waiting and had tried calling three times without an answer. I waited 30 minutes, then spotted a man mowing the lawn and asked if anyone could help us. A man who seemed to be the supervisor or manager came over and said they managed more than one park, the receptionist had been called away for an emergency and would be back soon, and check-in was at 2 pm anyway. The other couple pointed out that the website said 12 pm. He replied that we were on holiday and had time to wait. The receptionist arrived at 1:45 pm. She said she’d been on lunch, had written down the wrong return time, which should have been 2 pm, but had finished early and could help us. I was so annoyed by her attitude and what the supervisor or manager had told us that I cancelled my booking, got a refund and went to Big 4 in town instead.

We had a powered site with room for our camper, gazebo and car. The views over the golf course and waterway were sensational, and the beach was just a few steps away. It felt idyllic compared with the park in town and all its road noise. There was nothing to fault. We’ll definitely be back. 10 out of 10.

We liked the park so much that we booked the same cabin for the same time next year on checkout day. It felt like an ideal family break: peaceful, spacious and well laid out, with good facilities and a family-friendly atmosphere. The patrolled surf beach is only a three-minute walk away, so swimming and beach walks were easy. Our cabin was clean, well maintained and more like a high-end apartment than park accommodation. It had modern appliances, air conditioning, a spa bath and reliable WiFi, while still feeling relaxed and coastal. The ocean and beach views were stunning, and waking up to them with the sound of the waves was special. Surf Beach Holiday Park in Narooma made a perfect base for our family holiday.

We’ve stayed here twice now and hope to return soon. Our site had magnificent views, and the park is in great condition. The service and facilities were good. It’s close to the golf club for a nice meal, or about five minutes from the town centre.
