The Little Nel downstairs was a highlight, though it doesn’t serve dinner and is closed for lunch on Mondays. Reception was excellent, and the hotel’s right in the middle of Nelson Bay, with the Marina and several restaurants just a short walk away. The room was comfortable enough, with a good bed, no street noise and a TV loaded with apps if you use your own logins. It was on the small side, and you could hear people talking in nearby rooms a little. Parking was manageable but tight. Even off season the lot was often full, so I’d worry about it during peak tourist season.

Breakfast was a lovely part of the stay. The café downstairs brought it up to our room, and my partner and I ate on the balcony while enjoying the view. We were in a Town View Queen room, with a beautiful balcony outlook, a spotless room and an incredibly comfortable bed. We loved staying here and would happily recommend it.

Room 31 had wonderful views across the bay, and that king bed was so comfortable. The pillows were fabulous too, almost made me want to take them home! The rooms have been newly refurbished and had everything we needed. Staff were friendly and quick to help if we needed anything extra. Sophie was especially lovely. I’d definitely recommend the hotel for a relaxing break.

The pool was fab, and The Little Nel café onsite was great too. We could walk to the main street, marina and Woolworths in moments, and Dutchman Beach was a lovely ten minute stroll away for a swim. Our room felt modern and spacious, with a quiet balcony and plenty of thought put into storage and amenities. There were generous toiletries, tea and coffee, plus a toaster, dishes and washing up supplies. Parking off the street was easy, and the central location made getting around very convenient.

I spent seven nights here on my own while visiting my parents from Canada. The location is fantastic and I felt very safe. The newly renovated room was a real highlight, and I could get a good rest at any time of day. The staff were wonderful and took such good care of me. I wanted to keep this place to myself, but it was such a great stay that I had to share!
