The sirloin I had for lunch was cooked perfectly and tasted amazing, honestly better than the $65 steak I had at hoggs breath the night before. I've stayed here a few times too, and the rooms are big, clean and well appointed. The pub food is great, and showing your room key gets you 10% off food and drinks. Staff are friendly, prices decent, and the music makes for a good night out. It's also really accessible from the marina after a cruise on the bay.

We were paying customers and I'm extremely disappointed by how we were treated. After we complained about the bartender being rude and dismissive, the manager, food supervisor, and staff responded with hostility and arrogance. All three of our receipts were suddenly “lost” right after the complaint, which felt deliberate and added to our frustration and mistrust. The manager and food supervisor were rude, dismissive, and unprofessional instead of trying to sort things out or calm the situation. The service was disgraceful. I'd very much like to speak directly with the owner so they're aware of our treatment and the standards here.

We went for dinner on Wednesday and were told our food would take 45 minutes, which we were fine with. We ordered two salads, a caesar and a roast vegetable, but they took 1 hour 40 minutes to arrive. That's far too long for two cold meals like salads.

We were staying up the road and stopped in for dinner. The meals were great, and the staff were really friendly and attentive. If you're in Nelson Bay for a day or two, make sure you call in for a meal.
