Quest Newcastle Apartment Hotel

I wouldn't stay at Quest Newcastle again. The room had a horrible mould smell, and there was a mass of long dark hair across the ensuite floor, though nobody in our group had long dark hair. Maybe better service would have helped us overlook those things, but it was poor from the start. The first thing a staff member said was an apology before we'd even checked in, while we were standing alone at reception. Then the manager interrupted that staff member while they were helping me with milk pods. He only acknowledged me after I stepped away from the desk, to say the staff member would be a little longer. Anyone choosing customer service work should think about how they treat guests. The phone quote changed five minutes after the callback, and $35 for uncovered parking is a complete rip off. It's overpriced and needs serious improvement. Stay somewhere else.

The staff were friendly and informative, and they accommodated our request for an early check-in. We only stayed a night, but were happy with everything. The bedroom, living and dining areas, and kitchen were spacious, and the bathroom was huge. It was well equipped with a washing machine, dryer, dishwasher drawer, full size fridge, toaster and stove. This was our first time at Quest Newcastle apartment hotel, after a month at Quest Norwest Sydney and stays at other Quest properties in New Zealand. I'd happily stay here again.

A pleasant stay, and the staff were fine. The room could use updating. Its balcony was big enough for six, which seems odd with only one bedroom. The area is great, near restaurants, shops and the river. The pool was okay, but I wouldn't bother with the gym. My bed was comfortable, though it was on wheels and moved around, so I didn't feel secure on the floor. There's a good little kitchen, plus a washer and dryer, which could suit a week long stay. Onsite parking is convenient, but the extra charge feels unfair, and the place is expensive for what it is. I also received a lovely complimentary card and beer, a nice thought.

The front desk staff were friendly and really helpful during our couple of weeks at Quest Newcastle. Our room had lots of space, but the balcony was the main letdown: it had bird droppings and didn't seem to get cleaned during the weekly service. If that had been taken care of, the stay would've been amazing.
