Alanvale Apartments & Motor Inn

The apartments were clean, and the staff were nice. I liked the picturesque area and the unusual, charming feel of the place. The villa-style exterior was gorgeous and the apartment had plenty of room. Inside, it was dated, with white-painted brick and mortar rather than plaster. The oven looked at least ten years old, though it looked brand new and worked fine. The Wi-Fi was awful, but I was on holiday, so it didn't matter to me. I was fine with the walls too, since this kind of housing was my choice. It's not the place for someone wanting a modern five-star hotel with fast Wi-Fi.

The room wasn't worth the price, and I've stayed in much nicer places for less. There was mould in the shower, and the only heating was an electric fan heater, with no air conditioning. The tea bags were very stale, and there wasn't even a biscuit to go with them. Television reception was poor too. The staff were nice, and the place looked very nice, but don't judge it by its appearance. I won't be back.

The apartment was in reasonably good condition, and it looked like some renovations had been done recently. The internet was the one problem for us. We rely on it and prefer places that confirm it's free. The booking website said it was free "in all areas," but that wasn't our experience. When we spoke to Julie by phone, she abruptly said they don't guarantee internet and that we should go outside because of the concrete buildings. Sorry, Julie, that's not good enough.

We only just found this perfect place, and it's a shame we can stay for just one more month. It's fully self-contained, the staff are fantastic, and the price is good.
