Noosa Blue Resort

My partner needed emergency surgery, so we couldn’t make the weekend stay we’d planned. We sent in medical documentation, but the hotel still wouldn’t move our dates or refund us. The staff on the phone were rude and offered no real help or understanding. I’ve never had customer service this poor. They kept the money we’d paid, and I’d tell people not to stay here.

You can walk to Noosa junction in a few minutes, and Noosa heads is about 5-10 minutes away. There’s a bus stop right outside, a nice reasonably sized pool, and another smaller one around the back. The cafe coffee was great, and reception were lovely, offering a map and tips on places to visit. Our room was clean and nicely furnished. The catch was the noise: we could hear footsteps upstairs and sounds from outside quite clearly, especially with our pool-facing room. Light sleepers might want earplugs. I’d have given it five stars without the noise.

Getting around was easy, with a bus stop right outside and Hastings Street and Noosa Junction both about a 10-13 minute walk away. The resort’s gym, open 7am-9pm, was well equipped, and the pool area was pleasant. There was also a private BBQ behind our room. The garden-view apartment had plenty for a short or longer stay: two stovetops, microwave, kettle, toaster, utensils, dishes, pots, glasses and dishwasher, plus a washer, detergent, laundry powder, fridge, iron and both a beach umbrella and regular umbrella. The room itself was spacious and generally well equipped, but it lacked a safe, tissues, a chopping board and a do-not-disturb sign. The couch and outdoor daybed sheet were visibly stained. It was comfortable overall, but a few room details and maintenance fixes would make a difference.

I was charged $200 on my credit card under a vague discretionary policy, with no clear standards or fee schedule. The photos showed an ordinary used room after checkout: unmade beds, used towels, a few minor items left behind and a lightly used kitchen, but no damage or major mess. The terms say extra cleaning charges may apply, yet don’t explain what counts as extra cleaning, what condition guests are expected to leave things in, or how much could be charged. I asked for an itemised explanation and the basis for the amount, but didn’t receive one. My card provider ultimately resolved the matter. I’d be cautious about pre-authorising a card here.
