For more than $500 a night, I expected a clean, well-kept apartment. We arrived after a three-hour drive from the Gold Coast to find apartment 20 in a really disappointing state. The blinds were tangled and wouldn’t open, there were pink carpet marks and a blood stain on the sheets, ants by the sink, bird droppings above it, and dirt that had clearly been missed above the shower. The bathroom ceiling had an unpainted patch from old water leaks. The online photos didn’t match what we walked into. We couldn’t cook breakfast because the induction cooktop had no suitable pans. When management sent onsite staff, they were dismissive and argumentative, even saying, “we’re not a 5-star hotel.” We were also told only the day before arrival that body corporate work would take place during our stay, which should have been disclosed before we booked or paid. Staff eventually fixed some cleaning problems and brought a suitable pan, which I appreciated, but the overall experience was extremely disappointing and I wouldn’t recommend staying here. The location was the only thing they didn’t completely ruin.

The rooms have what you need, and there are good pools and BBQ facilities. The walk to Hastings St and the beach is steep but manageable, and the boardwalk keeps you away from traffic.

The view from our apartment is very good, but the stay was a fail. Getting up and down meant tackling 33 stairs, which painters were using, and there’s no porter. My 83-year-old husband struggled to get our cases down, and I’m not sure how we’ll get them back up. Reception hadn’t told us about the stairs or the painting and renovation work, and when I asked for help, they said none was available. The place was worn and unclean, with dirty toilets, mould on the bathroom ceiling, no working fans in either bathroom, curtains coming off and broken furniture. Maybe we got a shabby apartment. It was also noisy, with slamming doors and footsteps overhead. We wouldn’t stay again even if we were paid. After the Crest response, I want to clarify that the email about painting and renovation only came after check-in. The mould and neglected state had built up over a long time, and working exhaust fans in both bathrooms would help. I took more photos and would be happy to publish them. This place was shabby, not “chic.” I tried calling reception on Friday afternoon after check-in, but nobody picked up. The owner’s response made the experience even worse.

We had five adults and a child for five nights, but only got two kitchen bin bags and two toilet paper rolls. The room was looking dated and wasn’t very clean. We found beach clothes from the previous guest in the laundry, and the lounge rug was a trip hazard. It needed more attention to detail.
