A really good value place to stay on Hastings st, with the beach and surf club close by. The pool area is lovely, and there’s also a small pickleball court and gym. The room was well equipped, and the staff were friendly. Gareth and the crew were especially helpful and welcoming. I’ll definitely stay here again.

“You’re at the beach, Relax” was the first thing I saw when we walked into the superior 2 brm apartment on level1, and it summed the place up. We extended our stay because my partner was so happy walking to the best beach we’ve ever been to. There’s a great daily walk through the national park and on to sunshine beach, with beaches all along the way. Everything made it easy to relax. We could get to the water, with its flags and numerous patrolling lifeguards, and the surf was lovely without dragging you away. Every child we saw looked happy, and the teenagers seemed to look after themselves. There’s a bottle shop to the right, a convenience store to the left, lots of entrances and exits, easy parking, the best gelato across the road, and endless coffee, food, and beach options. A special mention to Heather, who jumped on my call when I realised I’d left valuables in a spot in the room. She found them and sent them back with no fuss, as easily as the surf washing onto shore. Don’t sweat the small stuff, just relax. It’s paradise. Thank you.

The staff were genuinely friendly, and the location is amazing. The room, though, was the worst I’ve stayed in anywhere in Australia. It reeked of cleaning products so badly that our clothes still smelled two days later. Everything felt old, stained and worn out: the carpet, couch, bed and dining table all seemed like health hazards. I can imagine many rooms are privately owned and may not have to meet a particular maintenance standard. Room 29 should be taped off and marked hazardous.

There are no lifts, so expect to carry your belongings up several flights of stairs. That added to an already stressful stay as a solo parent travelling with my child. I left feeling worse than when I arrived, instead of refreshed. We had to change rooms because noise was keeping us awake, an issue the hotel already knew about. The concierge was rude and showed no understanding. She suggested I leave my sleeping child alone in the new room while I went back to pack our things, which I would never do. She also said I should be charged for an extra night because moving was taking too long, even though they had let us switch rooms “in good faith.” She accused me of taking advantage when I was moving as quickly as I could on my own. When I explained that I hadn’t wanted to move and was only doing so because of the noise, she replied, “you’re not at home.” It was dismissive and unhelpful. The manager later acknowledged that they regularly get noise complaints about road-facing rooms, but guests aren’t told about this when booking. I was promised a follow-up days ago and still haven’t heard anything. The lack of empathy and the way the blame was shifted onto me were really disappointing. Basic customer service shouldn’t be too much to expect.
