Midcity Motor Lodge

The bathroom flooded every time we showered, which made it inconvenient and unhygienic. There was also a strong sewer smell in the room from check-in until the end of our stay. We reported it, and a maintenance person replaced a blocked shower catcher, but that didn't clear the smell. We asked to move rooms and were told the hotel was full for the Bathurst weekend, with no alternative available. We booked believing the room had been newly renovated, as advertised. The wardrobe was the only thing that seemed new; the rest looked and felt like it came from the 1980s. The decor is tired and badly needs refurbishment. It's advertised as a budget motel, but we still expected adequate facilities and service that met Australian standards. That wasn't our experience. Management showed no concern or accountability: there was no apology, compensation, or attempt to put things right. We won't return or recommend it. Save yourself the hassle and stay elsewhere.

The room was simple and old, and the bathrooms were old too, but everything was very clean. The beds were really comfortable, and it was perfect for our overnight stay. Great value for the money.

The rooms are spacious and the bed was very comfortable, though the rooms could use a refresh. The location is excellent, close to the city centre. We had an amazing dinner at the Restaurant, which I recommend. The receptionist was the one letdown, and seemed to be having a bad day.

I was travelling for work and spent one night in room 110 this week. The basin was cracked, the bin hadn't been emptied, and ants were crawling on the bath towels, in the shower, and across the bathroom floor. The heater didn't work either. With three beds crammed into a small room, it was difficult to move around as a solo traveller. There's no after-hours assistance. It was a horrible experience, and I'll ask for this motel to be removed from my company's accommodation list.
