The Retreat Beach Houses

The pool and facilities were good, and the room was pretty nice. The setup has the bedrooms downstairs, with the kitchen and lounge upstairs, reached by a partly outdoor staircase. We had two little kids with us, so getting to shops meant driving. It’s near the beach, though the flagged swimming area is closer to the shops. Older kids or adults might be able to walk along the beach. We had a pretty nice stay with the family.

We could hear the ocean at night from our room, which was lovely. The grounds are full of trees and plants, and the outdoor pool was pleasantly warm. There are walking tracks from the accommodation straight to the beach, and the upper-level beach house balcony had fantastic ocean views. The location, friendly staff and beautiful accommodation made us want to come back. We definitely will.

Our group of 12 stayed for two nights across two retreats. The apartments were laid out well, so we could all stay comfortably near each other, and the facilities were well kept. Check-in was easy, even with some guests arriving at different times and not having made the booking. Nearby restaurants and other locations made for a fun weekend. We’d absolutely stay again and recommend it to family and friends. Next time we’re on the Sunshine Coast, we’ll choose this place.

The place was quiet and relaxing, with great appliances and utensils. We stayed in unit 9 for three nights and four days, and the layout suited what we were after. Both bedrooms, the bathrooms and laundry are downstairs by the entrance. Upstairs, reached by a steep, semi-outdoor flight of stairs, is a large open-plan living and dining area. The living room opens onto a big balcony, and there’s a smaller one downstairs off both bedrooms. Privacy between the bedrooms was limited because they’re separated by just a wall, though the main bedroom has an ensuite. The upstairs rug is dangerously slippery, and you can see the neighbours through the closed blinds if you look. Still, it was lovely, and we’ll be back.
