You can get to the lively bar straight from the hotel without stepping outside, and the location is hard to beat. When there's good snow, you can ski right to the bridge, then it's only a two-minute walk to the V8. We had a great stay.

Breakfast was fantastic, with your choice of omelette or pancakes you can make yourself, and the dining area looks out over the snowy mountains. On Saturday around 7pm, you can watch the fireworks right in front of you. Our room was spacious and comfortable, though the bathroom design wasn't great. The ceiling lights were all clustered near the middle, leaving the far corner without the light it really needed.

After a day skiing, I had the rump steak with mash and vegetables. The beef was a decent cut and cooked just how I asked, and the price was genuinely fair for a ski area. They also have the usual pub classics.

There's good value here compared with what you pay on the mountain, and the prices are about like a pub back home. It's a great spot for food and drinks. If you're there on a Friday night, they also have fireworks over Ground Valley.

The views over the ski slopes are fantastic. There's live music, good food, and an open fire in the bar, right at Perisher Valley Ski resort.
