Acclaim Swan Valley Tourist Park

I only stopped by to visit a friend for about five minutes, so I can’t really comment on the service or rooms. What I did see was a tidy place with caravan sites that looked big enough for a van and two cars, and the caravans all had a similar look that gave the grounds a suburban feel. Streets branch off the main driveway, so the grounds seem fairly large. It feels rural, but commercial areas are only about a five-minute drive away. I drove past the entrance because it was hard to spot and I didn’t see a sign. It’s just before the Burke Service Station. I don’t know what facilities are available, but a quick call or a look at the website should tell you.

We had plenty of room for the caravan, car and awning, and the location was great. But the park is very run down. Several taps in both toilet blocks were broken, and one shower block had no hot water. The pool was closed when it was 36-39 degrees, and there wasn’t any shade anyway. There were lots of dogs and permanent residents. I also saw four bags of dog poo left beside the dump point.

Lisa was so kind and helped me a lot. The location is convenient, and even though planes pass overhead, it’s otherwise quiet. The facilities are a bit tired, but that didn’t bother me.

We were meant to stay for 8 days over Christmas to visit our 2 year old grandson, but he died and we had to cancel two weeks before the booking. We lost 50% of our $225 deposit and were charged a $30 cancellation fee. That may be the published policy, but it felt pretty harsh in the circumstances. We were told we were lucky to cancel when we did, because by the next day we would have lost the whole amount.
