By the time we landed from the Gold Coast, collected a rental car and got to Aloft, it was well past midnight. Finn at reception made my 3-year-old son and me feel at home straight away. He was welcoming and knew plenty about planes, including some fun facts. We also really enjoyed the buffet breakfast, with a good mix of sweet and savoury food. The staff were attentive, especially Bao. I’d happily stay again.

The venue was lovely and the staff were nice at the 75th WRAAC Anniversary formal dinner, but the food was disappointing for $150 a head. The cheese afterwards was okay, and I was glad there were bread rolls. For the main, the choices were chicken with mashed parsnip or Barramundi that seemed frozen and was mushy and inedible. There were no vegetables or sides beyond two asparagus stalks and hummus swiped underneath. I expected better.

For $40 per person, the buffet breakfast felt like minimal choice at a maximum price. The grilled tomatoes and bacon were tasty, but most of the rest was average or worse. The spring rolls were uncooked and doughy on one side with mushy filling, and the fried rice was bland and below average. The scrambled eggs seemed to be powdered, the house beans were like canned beans, and the chicken sausages were dry and hard. The small pastries, tiny muffins and croissants looked nice until a big blowfly landed all over them. Stale shaved coconut spoiled the chia pudding too. Choices were limited, and barista coffee wasn't included. Novotel Langley and the Vines charge less and are much better.

We keep returning, and the hotel still feels peaceful even though it's close to everything. The gym is well equipped, and there's a pool for unwinding. Breakfast is a highlight, with lots to choose from, including fresh pastries, barista coffee, fruit and hot dishes. The rooms are spotless and comfortable, with everything we need for a relaxing stay. You can see the team takes pride in looking after the place. Staff were warm and helpful as soon as we checked in, and made us feel at home again. This is our second visit and somehow it keeps getting better. Looking forward to coming back.

The staff were helpful and polite, and the rooms felt modern and clean. The beds were comfortable too. We had a wonderful time and I'd recommend the hotel. I'd come back.
