Sundancer

Be careful with the weekly discount. They said you could pay weekly at a reduced rate, but only if you paid cash. In the end, they charged me for 6 nights instead of 7, as though a week had only 6 days. I paid about 463 for a week, since they charged $48 plus the “week” rate for 6 nights. They did deduct from my deposit because I changed my booking twice, of course, but I still would rather stay somewhere else. You pay 315 for a bed in a 10 people bedroom right in front of High St, so it's noisy every night. There's barely room for your food in the fridge or cabinets, and I had to throw a lot of it away. There are cockroaches and other bugs, sometimes in your bed. Almost all the staff are volunteers, and some would keep chasing me around the kitchen, blaming me for dishes someone else had left dirty.

Being away from home feels easier here because the hostel has such a family feel. The team made us comfortable right away, and the city centre is handy, with the beach only a five-minute walk away and other amenities close by. Sundancer is the best hostel!

There's always something going on at Sundancer, and the atmosphere is great. I could be working, doing yoga by the pool, joining a BBQ with the Sundancers or a ping pong game, having a beer at the bar, or just watching a movie on the couch. It felt like a second home while I was travelling, warm and welcoming, and a lovely place to meet people and make friends whether you're there one night or longer. Best hostel in Freo!

Being so far from my own home, I still felt at home here. I loved the place, and Ollie is the best hostel manager you could ask for!
