Ocean Mist made a handy base for exploring the island, and the walk to Flinders Beach for sunset was a highlight. We spent ages cooking on the BBQ and taking in the ocean from the deck. There were eight of us for a long weekend in May 2023, and the five bedrooms gave us plenty of space.

The location worked so well for our three-night group stay during the Straddie Salute weekend in May 2023. We could walk to the beach for sunset, and Frenchman’s Beach, Main beach and the Straddie Island Beach Hotel were a short drive or bus ride away. There were also plenty of cafes and coffee shops nearby. We ordered groceries online before leaving, and Coles delivered them on arrival, which was perfect. Inside, the house was roomy, with five bedrooms that comfortably sleep 10, two kitchens and three bathrooms. The big deck looks out towards the beach and sunset. The kitchen had the appliances you'd expect at home, plus a dishwasher. We had a blast here. It would suit a small gathering of friends or family, or a quick weekend away for two.

The house was spacious, pleasant and in a great spot, and we enjoyed our stay. A few things needed attention, though: a couple of doors had come off their hinges, a toilet in the rear unit was broken and leaking, and that unit was far from clean.
