Port Douglas Cottage and Lodge

The front cottage was a real highlight: it has its own pool, so you don’t have to share, and a BBQ on the deck if you want to use it. This is an historical building, gorgeous and unlike the many resort apartments where you share facilities. It’s just off Macrossan Street, so central but still quiet and private. The cottage is very comfortable and has everything you could need. There are stairs up to the bedroom, but that wasn’t a problem for us oldies. The modern bathroom also has a washing machine and dryer tucked away. There’s air con in the bedroom and living area, though we also liked switching it off and letting the cool breeze come in through the doors. You can hear the birds and other animals living in the plants beside the building. Four Mile Beach is a very short walk away for sunrise. Of all the places we’ve stayed in Port Douglas, this is our favourite. Thanks, Wayne and Graeme, we absolutely loved it. I’ve added a few photos, and the website has more that give a good idea of what the property is really like. I’d say go and experience it for yourself.
