Douglas Riverside

We couldn't have asked for more. After our travel agent booked us a month early and we missed the 'no show' notice, we arrived and were lucky that one room was still available. The professional landlord gave us a full refund for the prepaid no-show and even upgraded us for free. We were over the moon at the warm welcome and generous treatment. The location is great too, within walking distance of the town centre and lighthouse. Thank you very much, you made my day!

We stayed in the Garden House, and it was wonderful. Its large lounge, living and dining area is full of beautiful light, with spectacular views across the lush gardens and river. You won't want to leave. My husband and I spent two nights at Douglas Riverside in February 2022. It's ideally placed by the river and close to shops, cafes and restaurants. Jane was an excellent hostess, leaving a well-stocked fridge and a loaf of delicious homemade bread. The house suited us as a couple, and with three en-suite queen-size rooms it would also work well for a small group or family. The bedroom was spacious, and the luxury-quality linens, towels and bathroom appointments were lovely. I'd highly recommend it as a base for visiting Port Fairy.

We loved the house and its river view, and everything was clean. Jane was lovely and flexible too. Since no one was due to arrive until the next day, she let us stay until it was time to catch the coach to Warrnambool, which we appreciated. On arrival, we found her hot, delicious bread, and the fridge and kitchen were well set up with everything we needed.

The view is the main event here. Just metres from the river, the lounge is a lovely spot to sit and look out the window, all holiday long. We spent two nights at Douglas Riverside and can highly recommend it. Jane is a generous host: she baked fresh bread for our arrival and left milk, OJ, chocolates and butter in the fridge. The rooms are comfortable and the location excellent.
