Olde Tudor Hotel

The biggest drawback for me was hearing so much noise from the room next door. There didn’t seem to be much soundproofing. The bed was two singles pushed together, and one side was much firmer than the other. The pillows were small and softer than I like, though I could live with that. Otherwise, the room was clean and had the basics, including toiletries, tea, and coffee. Staff were friendly at check-in, and parking right out front made it easy to unload and get to the room. The location is handy too, about five minutes from the city centre, with groceries, takeaways, newsagents, and other things close by. There’s a pool, though I didn’t try it, and I didn’t visit the bistro or bar this time. I had lunch there a few years ago and it was fine, so I doubt that’s changed. A decent budget stay if noisy neighbours don’t bother you.

Caitlin brought our plates over with a friendly, calm manner and checked that everything was right before asking if we needed anything else. She made us feel looked after without hovering. Dawson had taken our order patiently and carefully, and the food arrived just as we’d asked. The meal was very good, nicely prepared, and tasted great. I really enjoyed the food and the thoughtful service from both of them. It made for a lovely evening, and I’d happily come back.

Lauren helped us make the most of the facilities at the olde Tudor, and we had a wonderful swim. The bistro meal was a highlight too, the chicken schnitzel was fantastic, and Shannon was such a warm, welcoming server who knew the menu well. I had a great stay from start to finish. Five stars for the management, and I’ll definitely be back. Thank you!

The food was good, and most of the staff were friendly. The gentleman in the gaming area, though, could be more hospitable; he didn’t seem to enjoy his work. The rooms were good, but noise travelled between them, and the water supply was an issue when two rooms were both using the showers. Still, it’s a good spot for a couple of days, close to the airport and Launceston.
