The island was beautiful, and stargazing on the beach was a highlight. Our group was around 30 people, big enough to meet lots of others but still get to know most of them. The vegetarian meals were a little repetitive, though that’s fairly normal when you’re veggie, and they were fine for three days. Breakfasts were great. Scott guided us for the three days and was welcoming and friendly, which really made the trip. The hostel team were lovely too, offering useful tips and being accommodating. I think Ruari was at reception most of the time, and he was especially warm and friendly. I felt very comfortable as a solo traveller, and booked after a friend recommended it. The trip with Pippies was a great couple of days exploring K'gari. I paid around £350, I think, including two nights’ accommodation on each side of the trip, which made arrival and departure much less stressful. I’d recommend it whether you’re travelling alone or with a small group.

Jamie and Kristy have made our experience with Pippies Beachhouse fantastic. They communicate clearly and promptly, and are quick to answer any questions. It’s refreshing to deal with people who care and do what they say they’ll do. I highly recommend Pippies Beachhouse.

We needed somewhere to park overnight with our rooftop tent, and they gave us a spot at a very reasonable price. The showers and toilets were clean and nice, and the place had a good backpacking vibe. They really came through for us.

We stayed the night before our Fraser Island tour and had to be up at 6am, but got no sleep. Staff were shouting and screeching until after 3am. Since it was staff making the noise, we expected better, especially with everyone needing an early start. It left us exhausted for the first day of a tour that wasn’t cheap. Hostelworld lists a 9:30pm noise curfew, which staff ignored by hours. My friend and I each went out at different times to ask them to keep it down, but they laughed and showed no respect. I spoke with a few people in the morning who said they’d had the same problem the previous night. The showers have very little pressure and there are only a few, so expect queues. The kitchen hobs weren’t great either, and one was out of order during our stay. I wouldn’t recommend this hostel and won’t stay again.

Kev made the Pippies trip incredible. We had such a good time, and he was a fantastic guide. The rooms are basic but fine for staying before and after the trip. I’d definitely recommend it.
