Reflections Red Rock - Holiday Park

The kids had a great time here. It's a gorgeous setting, tucked between a beautiful beach and a clear tidal lagoon, and the bathrooms were clean with nice facilities. Some campsite areas were dusty, though. A bit more upkeep to keep the grass looking good would make it a six out of five.

The beaches and estuary are beautiful, and the park is well run. Facilities are clean but pretty basic, and there's a good camp kitchen. We've stayed several times, and the friendly admin staff were especially helpful when I got my dates wrong and needed a last-minute change. Don't miss the Syrian kitchen at the Bowlo, great food and a relaxed meal on the green.

We stayed two nights in a non-powered caravan site without water. The sites were roomy, with both shade and sun for solar, and there were plenty of bush turkeys and parrots around. It's clean, easy to reach, and a nice place to rest. Check-in service was wonderful.

This feels like greed at its worst. I stopped at the Arrawarra Rest Area, which the government built so tired travellers could rest, and an officer patrolling there told me the limit was only four hours. There are signs saying so. If I pull over at 10 pm because it's dark, that means having to leave at 2 am, which makes no sense. The officer said it hadn't always been like that and told me local caravan parks had lobbied for the limit because they didn't want people staying there instead of paying to use their parks. I think putting drivers at risk just to make money is awful. DO NOT STAY IN THESE CARAVAN PARKS!!! Edit: The caravan park replied that it had nothing to do with the four-hour restriction, but that's very hard to believe. This is the only rest area on the Pacific Highway with a four-hour limit. Even the officer inspecting it said the caravan parks had specifically asked for it to stop people sleeping there instead of going to their parks.
