There’s plenty to explore nearby, though it was just as tempting to stay put by the tidal flats and enjoy the view, or stretch out for a hammock nap. We spotted a baby kookaburra, an echidna and lots of wallabies. The house feels tucked away from the other homes, right on the water, and has loads of space. The kitchen is really well set up, the beds are comfortable, and it’s easy to keep everything clean. It’s dog friendly, too, with beach toys and craft supplies neatly arranged and easy to find. A lovely place to spend a week catching up with family or friends. The owners were quick to respond and flexible when we needed to book or make changes.

A fire and a sky full of stars made the evenings special. In the mornings, we could watch the sunrise from bed while listening to Kookaburra's singing, then take a walk through the bush or visit the private beach. The house was spacious and had everything we needed, including plenty of cookware and herbs. It was very clean, and we especially liked the comfortable, good-quality mattress. The design was attractive but practical throughout. Such a luxurious holiday house. Thank you!

The water views from every bedroom and the living areas were spectacular, and the kitchen had everything we could need, which is unusual in a holiday rental. We came from Melbourne on the Spirit with our kayak and found some great places to paddle. You can launch right from the beach behind the house and head to the Coal Mines. Port Arthur is about a 30-minute drive away, and we put the kayak in there too. What an amazing part of the world. We’ll be back.

The bay and the coast around Port Arthur offer world-class kayaking. We spent two weeks at Coalmines Escape and thought the accommodation was first class, with outstanding views across the bay. The bush walks, wildlife and coastal scenery were breathtaking. Learning about the convict history and the first settlers in Australia was priceless.

The views are outstanding, and the water toys are amazing. It’s easy to spend time curled up in the sun with a book or having a snooze. The house is spacious, exceptionally clean, and thoughtfully fitted out, with superbly comfortable beds. The owners have clearly put a lot of effort into making sure guests have a great stay. Coalmines Escape is a wonderful place for a relaxing break, and I can highly recommend it.
