Panorama Hotel St Helens

The food options at the restaurant really weren’t for me. I could only see two things that even slightly appealed, and the pizza I chose was a bad call. It felt too sophisticated, and there wasn’t even a fish and chips or burger option. The room fridge was tiny and awkward to reach, and its door dragged on the floor. The building and rooms were beautiful, and the location was wonderful.

There were eight of us, from elderly family members to teens, and we had a good stay in a spacious room. Service at both the front desk and restaurant was good. Thanks to Chloe and ‘Astefe’. We’ll come back and recommend it to others.

We ate lunch and breakfast in the hotel restaurant, and both meals were tasty and reasonably priced. I would have liked access to the buffet breakfast, though it seemed to be offered only to coach tours. Staff were friendly and knew the local area well, which added to the stay. The rooms were clean, a good size and had what we needed for a short visit. Free on-site parking was a real plus, and the location was great. It was a really comfortable stay, and I’d definitely recommend it.

We had a comfortable night, with friendly service and a great spot just five minutes’ walk from most places in town. The rooms are clean and spacious, and if you’re lucky you’ll overlook the water rather than the car park. I’d have given five stars if the rooms had been fully renovated. You can see the new owners and management are making improvements over time, but some parts still feel a bit 1980s, especially the bathroom. There’s a lot of space, yet the shower is a tiny corner unit while the spa bath takes centre stage. It feels like a nod to days gone by. Still, these are first world problems.
