Pelican Point Tasmania

Jerome took such good care of us and was an amazing host. The property is beautiful and peaceful, with lovely scenery and plenty of space. There’s bird watching, a short drive to beautiful beaches, and town is about 1.5-2km away on foot or by car. We’ll definitely be back.

We only planned one night at Pelican Sanctuary, but ended up staying four. The weather was poor, but mostly we just felt at home. The cottages are clean and thoughtfully equipped, with quality kitchen gear, a filtered water tap, plenty of condiments and bathroom supplies, comfortable beds, and lovely green views over the property. Ducks were on the pond, and there was plenty of other wildlife and birdlife. The bird book on the coffee table helped us identify them. Jerome was warm, welcoming, generous, and a delight as a host. He even offered us an extra night at no charge because of the heavy rain, though we had to move on and couldn’t take it. We usually stay right in town near restaurants, bars, and other amenities, but were glad we chose this place. It’s only a few minutes to town for a meal, the St Helens mountain bike trails, or fresh oysters and lobster to enjoy with wine on your private balcony. We highly recommend staying here.

We heard a Tasmanian Devil on our first night and saw heaps of different birds. Someone said there was a platypus in the lake, but sadly we didn’t spot it. Jerome was extremely helpful and polite, the service was awesome, and the location and amenities were excellent. We’re definitely coming back!

The birds and peaceful natural setting are a big part of what we love about Pelican Point Sanctuary. There are lovely nearby walks and views, and it feels secluded while still being a short walk from the characterful town of St Helen’s. The accommodation is spacious, comfortable, and well equipped, with everything we needed to relax. This was our second week-long stay, and we enjoyed it just as much as the first. Jerome was welcoming, happy to chat and share recommendations, and attentive to the details that made us comfortable. We’re looking forward to coming back for a third visit. A lovely place to get away from the bustle and enjoy nature.
