The beds and towels were clean and neatly made, and we did enjoy our stay, but some basic things were missing. There wasn’t soap at the bathroom sink and we had to buy soap and toilet paper soon after arriving. With no broom or cleaning supplies beyond dishwashing liquid and a cloth that looked used, I can see it being hard to keep things clean on a longer visit. The room itself had fingerprints, marks on the walls and chipped paint, and seemed due for a deep clean or refresh. It may have been only a little more than caravan parks, so perhaps this sounds harsh, but cleanliness matters to us and the little details felt overlooked.

The host was welcoming and the studio was spacious, with a large bathroom and a well stocked kitchen. It was renovated to modern standards despite the building’s age, exceptionally clean and surprisingly quiet by the road. There’s a partial bay view and a good upward view of the Nut. I personally prefer more modern decor, but had no real complaints and would stay again if I’m in the area.

A cosy, clean place with everything we needed for a pleasant stay. It’s in a great spot in beautiful Stanley, and the old historic building has a quaint, comfortable feel.

It’s central and quaint, but I didn’t find the owners very helpful. I left something in the bathroom and, since I was staying in the area for a week, went to the owner’s shop twice to collect it. They said they’d get back to me, but I heard nothing. Friends also left messages on their phone about leaving a gift for an arriving guest, and those went unanswered too.

Small fridge and a basic kitchen area, but it’s a cosy place in Stanley, close to shops and cafes. The walking track to the Nut is just across the road.
