Kookaburra Beach Cottage On Tallow

We spent four nights and five days at Tallow Beach Houses in the Sandcastle cabin, using it as a base to explore Byron Bay. The location was great, with a walking path directly to Tallow beach and just a 10-minute drive from BB. The cabin was roomy, comfortable, and well equipped. Darren and Sandra communicated efficiently, were both helpful, and clearly wanted to make sure the stay met our expectations. We were very happy with our stay.

Tallow Beach Houses has a fantastic location, with beach access right at your doorstep, and the staff are very friendly and happy to chat. It was a great week, and I’d recommend it to anyone wanting a quiet place by the beach in a less populated area than Byron Bay. I’ve lowered my room rating from five to four stars because finding suitcase storage was a bit challenging. I moved the bed by opening the doors between the room and lounge, then used the lounge as a makeshift place to store my luggage. We didn’t use the lounge during the stay anyway, since the large outdoor deck had plenty of space, with an eight-person table and an outdoor lounge set.

The lake and bush views made the place feel wonderfully quiet and relaxing. We had such a lovely Christmas break with the family, and the thoughtful extras were a nice surprise. The beach house caught the cool breeze so well that, even in 30-degree heat, we switched off the air conditioner and opened the louvres. We’ll definitely be back.

Our family loved how calm and peaceful it was, with nature and the beach right nearby and Byron Bay close enough too. This was easily the best place we stayed during our holiday. Darren was such a great host, friendly and helpful, and went way beyond what we expected. Thanks a thousand times for all your help!
