Discovery Parks - Ulladulla

The showers were nice and the location was good, but the sites are tight. I was disappointed by the one-car-in, one-car-out rule, which I'd never encountered before. We had two cars with all our gear, so packing up after the rain was frustrating and stressful with three kids. We were locked in the park for an hour after bringing both cars in to pack. Other people had boats, cars and caravans, so I'm not sure what the issue was.

We spent three nights here with our caravan during a seven-week road trip, and Ulladulla was such a beautiful stop. We were impressed by the park and our site. Sam and Graham at reception were welcoming, friendly and helpful. We'd highly recommend staying here, and we're glad we came.

The linen and towels were fresh and clean, and apart from a couple of problems, we had a pleasant stay and enjoyed the park. But our pet-friendly cabin smelled quite unpleasant as soon as we entered. Carpet in the living area and bedroom seemed an odd choice for a cabin that allows pets, since it may hold odours. Flying ants came out of a wall inside. Once we sprayed them, they fell onto the lounge, which was unpleasant and unexpected. We also visited my mum and sister's cabins, Cabin 8 and Cabin 10, and they were clearly better presented and maintained. Those cabins felt fresh and updated, while ours seemed run down. The price was very similar, so it was disappointing that bringing pets seemed to mean getting a much lower-quality cabin. The pet-friendly cabins could use an update and better pest control to bring them up to the standard of the others.

The lakefront location is lovely, with an easy walk along the shore and to nearby shops. Staff were generally friendly and helpful with information, and the facilities were clean and very well maintained, with a good camp kitchen. We stayed with our caravan while the park was being refurbished, so there was some disruption from construction vehicles and machinery. The sites were a little hard to manoeuvre into. Ours was near the new dump point, which meant pedestrian traffic all day and the occasional smell of effluent when cassettes were emptied.
