The house itself was generally fine, though there was an ant infestation in the ensuite bathroom. Our disappointing experience with Freycinet Holiday Houses was really about the BBQ pack. The $95 upsell sounded appealing, but there was no BBQ at the property, despite the house listing saying it included a BBQ grill and the compendium and entrance QR code both linking to BBQ instructions. When we raised it, Freycinet Holiday Houses first suggested cooking the steaks on the fire pit. This was only a week after a bushfire had destroyed several homes just a few hundred metres away, so I was concerned. They were dismissive when I questioned the suggestion, making it sound unreasonable to expect a BBQ. They were quick to email terms and conditions saying amenities could be changed at any time, but the lack of accountability and poor handling made the stay disappointing.

The house gets lovely natural light that makes it feel homely, and there’s an open fire and heating if you need them. The bathroom has a stunning view, too. We liked the well equipped kitchen and enclosed sunroom, but the best part was the breathtaking outlook from the back deck. As soon as we arrived, it felt like our own secluded hideaway. The beach is only a 20m walk away. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will definitely return!

I loved having both indoor and outdoor fires, and the deck made it such a peaceful place to spend time. The house has plenty of room for the family and a great kitchen for entertaining together. The setting really made an impression from the moment I arrived. The views of “The Hazards” to the east and the beachfront made the holiday even more relaxing. I can’t wait to book another stay at “Southerly’s”.

We’ve already been back. It’s instantly relaxing, like having a beautiful little world of your own, even though town is only a short drive away. The big deck has spectacular views, and the bedrooms are really spacious. I especially loved the outlook from the master bedroom. The kitchen had everything you could want.

We love Southerlys. It’s so well equipped that it feels like a home away from home, and it’s been comfortable and suited our holiday needs every time we’ve stayed. There’s direct access to a beautiful beach, with outstanding views of the Hazards from inside and from the great deck.
