25hours Hotel Sydney The Olympia

The location is great and the styling is funky, with what I’d call the best rooftopbar in Sydney. But the rooms get very hot because the airco can’t keep up. The polyester duvet is cheap and easy to clean, but it doesn’t breathe, so that makes for more hot nights. The bed was too short for me at 1,93. I was put in disabled room (#302), and would refuse it if you can, because the bathroom turns into a water ballet and everything gets soaked.

The lobby and overall building design were lovely, and both reception and hospitality staff were amazing. Dinner at Monica's and the Palomar breakfasts were better than I expected. Before arrival, communication was also lovely, and I really appreciated being allowed to check in early after a red-eye flight from Darwin. I stayed two nights as part of a Qantas package. There were a few property and cleaning problems: a strong unpleasant smell on the level 2 hallway, though thankfully it didn’t reach the room, and two pillows that smelled dank and damp. We had four pillows, so we could set those aside. I’d happily return.

Jacob the Angel was our regular stop for breakfast coffee and a pastry, though one morning we had a proper breakfast next door at Palomar(?) and it was ace. The rooftop bar was a lovely, chilled place to unwind after a long day exploring Sydney. This was our first time in this part of the city and at a 25hours hotel. Great location, excellent place, and it made our trip just smashing.

The restaurant was a real highlight. We had some of the best food we’ve eaten, especially the cucumber salad and scallops. The steak was tender, juicy, and cooked just right, and the tahini tart for dessert lived up to the recommendation. In the morning, the in-house breakfast’s sourdough avocado mash with chilli oil was so good we’d come back for that alone. The rooftop bar had lovely views, a fun but refined feel, and a great crowd. We had a relaxing, pleasant stay at Olympia, and every staff member was genuinely helpful and welcoming. We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it.
